YOUTH 2020 - The position of young people in Slovenia

258 ents. Parents are even extending their role in young people’s lives, as they continue to have a strong impact on their children’s life opportunities and outcomes (e.g. by providing social and employment links, paying for edu- cation, and providing direct material support in the form of money, ser- vices, and shared housing). Figure 7.7 illustrates parental support in different areas of life, which are among young people’s main concerns when planning their future. In 2020, young people expect the most help from parents in childcare (88.5%) and finding permanent housing (79.3%). At least two-thirds of young people expect helpwithmoney and gifts (69.2%), and help in find- ing a job (63.4%) and in further education (60.5%).
